LAAL fashion shoot
LAAL fashion shoot
Based on Alexander McQueen’s quote ‘’I am not big on women looking naive’’, the inspiration behind my vision for LAAL incorporates this opinion; the LAAL girl is a sensual, sophisticated feminine ‘warrior’. She is a strong and powerful creature; a Balmain and Givenchy inspirational ‘girl.’
There is a bit of beautiful darkness, dramatism, and a black melancholic side to LAAL; a beautiful contrast with the Romantic Movement expressed using the ultimate romantic luxury of silk.
Many of my tops are inspired and created based on ‘romantic’ poems/influences such as Fading obsessions, Black Orchid and Disenchanted.
My love of Italian culture, French romanticism and London’s Alexander McQueen were mixed together and exploded over the finest silk to create the material expression of oscillating between happiness and darkness.
The first LAAL collection is called “Silk Obsession”, and was designed to create a silk statement.
I was super excited to work with globally acclaimed photographer, Simon Songhurst, at the uber cool Penthouse studio in Shoreditch; what better site to shoot our very first LAAL fashion shoot than in the heart of glam rock London itself?
Simon boasts some of the biggest names in fashion and beauty as clients including L’Oreal, The Body Shop and All Saints, so we were extremely lucky to work with him for the day capturing some rather exceptional photos.
We had a fantastic make up artist, 2 studio assistants working behind the scenes to help capture these stunning images of our exquisitely beautiful model of the day, Liza Shoff…
Our full day shoot flew by, and impeccably captured our whole collection of 12 tops.
Our fabulous make-up artist, Laura Hunt, was a finalist for the Professional Beauty Awards in the Makeup Professional of the Year category, 2014. Laura has worked with some major clients including Mercedes-Benz Miami Fashion Week Swim 2013, ITV’s “This Morning” fashion team Tinie Tempah.
It was my fist professional fashion shoot, so I was quite nervous to manage such a team of experienced professionals, but it was a memorable day because the team worked perfectly together, and you can see the stunning results for yourselves below…
We’d love to hear your thoughts on the images, and hear any ideas you have for future silk couture inspired fashion shoots.
